What started as a bold independent film company has grown into a cornerstone of the Gold Tree ecosystem — shaping a slate of films that blend creative ambition with smart, sustainable financing.
Raised in Detroit in a large, working-class family, Tim Chonacas forged his own path — from art and photography to luxury sales and real estate — before turning to his true passion: filmmaking.
In 2008, he launched Untouchable Films, producing and financing independent features while building a reputation for delivering ambitious projects against the odds. His relentless drive and knack for assembling the right creative teams laid the groundwork for what would become Gold Tree Films.
Bill Immerman’s career was already the stuff of industry legend. With decades at American International Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, Crusader Entertainment, and the Yari Film Group, Immerman had overseen major studio productions, shepherded independent hits, and executed groundbreaking deals.
When he joined forces with Chonacas in 2010, his deep expertise in financing, production, and distribution became the bedrock of Gold Tree Films, merging entrepreneurial grit with veteran mastery.

Tim and Bill co-founded Gold Tree Studios in 2018, envisioning a new kind of independent studio that could rival “big-box” luxury facilities. Just as it neared completion, global production paused—first from the COVID‑19 pandemic, and then during the 2023 WGA and SAG‑AFTRA labor strikes.
Bill's passing in early 2023 marked a pivotal moment. In his honor, Tim expanded the Gold Tree family—launching new divisions like Animation GT, Gold Tree TV, Gold Tree Hellas, and a growing slate of television, streaming, and animation projects.
